mutt is absolutely awesome.....it's small, fast, extremely customizable
and did i mention it's fast? 

if i could figure out how to export evolutions mailboxen then i'd go
back to it actually. just haven't had the time to go putz around with
it. 

as far as the best way to set it up, just start going through the
documents and trying options to see what they do. the majority of them
won't eat your mail, and the ones that will are marked as such.
