[luau] startx problem

hello, I am working on a new installation using red hat 7.2 but everytime
I try to enable "startx" I keep getting the error:

"INIT:Id "x" respawning too fast:disabled for 5 minutes"

or sometimes I'll get a black screen and the tail end of some error, I
assume, which says:

"XIO:fatal IO error 104(Connection reset by peer) on X server ":0.0" after
0 request(0 known processed) with 0 events remaining".

any ideas would be much appreciated,
