[luau] Newbie questions; us robotics 5610B, SB Live Value

I have a dual boot red hat 7.0/win95 30g HDD installed on my TUSL2-c MB
Previously I had a lucent win modem I couldn't get to work.
So I purchased a us robotics 5610B, but after I had installed it I
found out I have the wrong kernel for it to be detected & connected.
Two questions
1) Does anyone have a TUSL2-c running Linux with the on board sound?
2) Can I fix my current kernel to detect my modem?
