Is this Ethernet or USB?  If you have USB I don't know how to get that
working in Linux, but I think your new cable modem has both a plug for both
so get yourself a patch cable and network card and ethernet config is easy
in Linux.  You will have slightly higher network performance on ethernet
too.

In Mandrake 8.1:
1. Login to root and go into Mandrake Control Center.
2. Open Network
3. Open Connection
