[luau] shorewall and transparent proxy on single machine

I am setting up a single machine for use by children and want to filter
their internet access using dansguardian.  This works fine on my home
network (where I still use ipchains) but for some reason the shorewall
firewall script does not want to redirect internet access to
dansguardian.
I tried adding the redirect entry to the /etc/shorewall/rules file, but
nothing.
Everything works as expected when I force Mozilla to use port 8080
(dansguardian) or port 3128 (squid) as proxy ports, but that's missing
the point. I want it to be transparent.

Any suggestions?
