Samba is only the server side, you actually don't need to be running 
that part in order to access Windows file and print shares over the network.

In Red Hat 8.0 you can use Gnome2 Nautilus to access Windows shares. In 
the address bar type:
smb://

After a while you should see your workgroups, enter a workgroup and you 
should see computers.  Enter a computer and it will ask for a login name 
and password, use the same login & password that you would use to login 
to that computer normally.

As for print configuration, you need to setup a SMB print queue. 
 Fortunately this is a lot easier than manual configuration as this is 
an option in Red Hat's print configuration program.  Please try the 
steps detailed in Red Hat's documetation for "Adding a Samba (SMB) Printer".
