An easier way to do this is to type (doesn't matter if you can't read
it, as long as you don't typo it):

echo ^v <esc> c <CR>

"echo control-v escape-key c" and RETURN

that should reset your console terminal ....

(can you tell I've tailed and catted a lot of binary files in my
day....?)
