cdrom error revisited

First try a new kernel.  Mandrake 8.1 has many kernel bugs.  Go into Cooker
and grab the latest kernel package.  Their update advisories and/or Bugzilla
may also shed some light on this.

Then I would suggest trying Red Hat 7.2.  If it still doesn't work, then
perhaps your drive really is broken.
