There was a book that I had just read "Renegades of the Empire". It talks
about the development of the 3D part of windows. The amusing point that
will stick with me for a long time is one of the software evagelists
complaining to the programmers about some API's they were not told about
that could have made some of the lives of those they were evagelising MS to
easier. The response this one gentlemen got from the programmers was that
they (the programmers) thought that the 3rd partiers didn't need the info.
This same evangelist soon found out that sometimes different program groups
within the beast could not get the API info from other groups. And of
course we all know that it is supported by the higher ups - otherwise this
email chain would never have happened :)
