I am a little late to the scene on this one. Did you enter the DNS server in
the TCIP/IP properties of the Ethernet card on the MS box? Are you blocking
DNS with your IP rules?

Attached is a perl script that I put together for setting ipchains rules, if
you want to give it a try. It has a switch menu where you make a choice to
set up, flush, or list the ipchains rules. If you view the script it
specifically allows DNS servers.
