Mandrake 7.1

Sorry Al, this is not really going to solve your problem but I am running
Mandrake 7.2 and noticed that it was much better at picking up hardware than
7.1. I haven't decided to try 8.0 yet but the trend suggests that it should
be even better.

I tried looking for a file with screen saver settings under some of my
users' home directories but I didn't notice anything obvious. The are some
dot files such as .Xdefaults but I didn't see anything there. Are you
looking to prevent users from setting the screen saver? or are you talking
about just turning it off for your session?

As far as the sound, look in /etc/rc.d/init.d/sound and see if that tells
you anything. To me it looks like you can specify a module in
/etc/modules.conf. I don't have sound in my Mandrake box, so I'm guessing.

I know, a long email for being no help at all..

Later,
Nelson

Hi Linux Gurus,

We are experimenting with a Mandrake installation.

Does anybody know in which file the settings for screen
saver are located in in Mandrake 7.1?
I want to disable it.

Also the sound card, a PCI, won't detect under HardDrake on
the setup we are trying. Anybody know if there is any way
to set the driver for the sound card manually as a module in
this version? Or if anybody has another reason it may not be
picking up I'd appreciate the suggestions.

The PrinterDrake worked fine to setup our network printer.
