Upgrading rpm packages

Hi,

I am trying to upgrade my rpm package ' libmng1-1.0.0-2mdk ' with package ' 
libmng-1.0.1-1.i686.rpm ' using ' rpm -U libmng-1.0.1-1.i686.rpm ' but i get 
an error message saying 

"file /usr/lib/libmng.so.1.0.0 from install of libmng-1.0.1-1 conflicts with 
file from package libmng1-1.0.0-2mdk"

can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong here? I similar messages when I try 
to upgrade other packages as well.
