burn-it-yerself Linux

Out of curiosity, has anybody downloaded a
distribution to burn your own using RoadRunner? What
kind of time are we talking about to transfer it?
Granted I can start the transfer and walk away, but
just curious to know if somebody that isn't on a T-1
has done it before ....
