Off topic: How clean laptop and flat panel screens?

I'd certainly appreciate knowing how to clean my laptop screen and flat
panel monitor. Both came with warnings that said never to put liquid on the
screen; only a soft dry brush could be used.

Little specks of salt appear on both of our units. This is because we live
in a condo unit at Makaha Shores, on Makaha Beach. We are about 40 feet from
the surf and six-floors up. Still, our railings, sliders, etc., accumulate
layers of salt in a hurry. Some of this salt laden air obviously is reaching
our computer equipment.

In PC Magazine, February 6, 2001, Page 118, I see:

To clean your PDA and mobile phone screens, just use a soft, damp cloth and
some diluted window cleaner. On the road, the ...shoeshine kit from your
hotel room can double as a handy screen polisher. If you stop at a gas
station which furnishes window cleaner, use a little on a dry tissue to wipe
off your devices' screens.

If you're a purist, invest in a PDA screen cleaning kit, such as PDA Screen
Clean from Concept Kitchen...

What do you think?

Thanks, Al
