shell commands not found

I need a little help.  I am getting the following message whenever I go to
the command line:

bash: ID: command not found
bash: dircolors: command not found
bash: tty: command not found
bash: tty: command not found
bash: dircolors: command not found

What could be causing this?  And, more importantly, how do I fix the
problem?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,
