I decided to give up on the Xpert 98 card.  I took it back to CompUSA
and got a matrox Millennium II card instead.  I can run 1600x1200 at 16bpp
with this card which only has 4 megs or RAM.  I think there may be
something wrong with the Mach64 server - I read of a lot of people with
problems with the newest cards, even though they are covered by XFree86
3.3.3, at least according to the documentation.  Thanks again for all
the help I was offered while pulling out my hair in an attempt to
configure the ATI card. :)
