In my attempt to troubleshoot my SAMBA difficulties, I installed
original WIN95 on a
different machine. I was able to connect WIN95 and Mandrake with SAMBA.
So I continued 
to research the WIN98 password issue. I found a Plain Password enable
utility on the
WIN98 CD. It did not help the WIN98 and Mandrake machines connect.

I just can not get the the WIN98 to connect with SAMBA using encrypted
or plain text
passwords.

I ran across the SAMBA/iX web pages. They delayed their latest version
of SAMBA due to
encrypted passwords problems. So I guess I am not the only one with the
problem.
I think I will try one of the earlier SAMBA releases and see if I can
connect to WIN98
using plain text passwords.

With which SAMBA release has anyone in the group connected SAMBA and
WIN98? I have been 
trying samba-1.9.18p10 RPM.
