[LUAU] changing flavors of Linux

Has anyone had the experience of changing from Red Hat to Caldera without
reloading from scratch?

The system's up and working but would like to try Caldera, can I do it
without having to reconfigure all my passwords, IP's domains and other
configuration files? And if I don't like it and want to return what kinds
of problems should I anticipate encountering?

Possible?
